For Doris Waelchli Giraud, painting is a space of freedom where colours become emotions. Her work combines intuitive abstraction with inspiration drawn from nature.
The paint
Doris works with texture, density and layering. She applies the paint in layers, scrapes it, reworks it, and lets the colour find its own direction. The impasto keeps the trace of every gesture.
You can see it in THE FUTURE IS GOOD, where an intense red area bursts out of a heavily worked midnight-blue ground, or in DESERT STORM, where golds and browns run vertically.
As in the kitchen
Doris has long shared her cooking, simple and creative. She herself links the two practices:
“I paint the way I cook.”
